Cookie policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on cricketfanslabs.forum, what each category is for, roughly how long each lasts, and how to change or refuse them — both here on the site and in your browser.

Last updated: 12 January 2026

1. What cookies and similar storage are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. Related technologies do similar jobs: local storage keeps a value in your browser until it is cleared, and session storage keeps one only until the tab is closed. Throughout this policy we use "cookies" to cover all of them.

We keep our use deliberately narrow. We run no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels and no social media trackers, and we do not sell or share information collected through cookies for behavioural advertising.

2. Categories we use

Cookies on this site fall into three categories. Essential storage is required for the site to work and is always active. Analytics storage helps us understand which modules are read and where readers leave. Functional storage remembers display choices you have made. Analytics and functional storage is set only when you enable the relevant category through our consent banner, and is not set if you reject non-essential cookies.

Cookies and similar storage by category
Name or pattern Category Purpose Typical duration
cfl_cookie_choice Essential Stores your consent decision and category selections so the banner is not shown again on every page. Persistent local storage until cleared by you
Session and security identifiers set by our host Essential Load balancing, request integrity and protection against abusive traffic. Set by our hosting and content delivery provider. Session, or a short period
First-party measurement identifiers Analytics Distinguishes visits and sessions in aggregate so we can see which modules are read, on what device, and where readers stop. Set only when the analytics category is enabled. From the end of a session up to about two years, depending on the identifier
Tag and consent signal storage Analytics Where a tag management or measurement platform is used to deploy analytics, it records that the measurement scripts loaded and which consent signal applied. Session to short-term persistent
cfl_pref_display Functional Remembers reading preferences such as larger text or the last module you had open, so the site opens the way you left it. Persistent until cleared, typically up to a year
Embedded media and image service storage Functional Third-party services that supply illustrative imagery may set storage for caching and delivery when their content is requested. Set by the third party; usually short-lived

Durations are indicative. A provider may shorten or lengthen the life of an identifier, and your browser may clear storage earlier under its own privacy settings.

3. Changing your choice on this site

The consent banner appears on your first visit. To change your decision later, clear this site's cookies and local storage in your browser and reload the page; the banner will reappear and you can set each category again. Choosing "Reject Non-Essential" leaves only the essential category active, and the site remains fully readable.

4. Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either generally or per site. The paths below are typical; menus differ slightly by version.

  • Chrome (Android and desktop): Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies and Site settings.
  • Safari (iOS and macOS): Settings or Preferences › Safari or Privacy › Block all cookies, Prevent cross-site tracking, and Clear history and website data.
  • Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data, and Enhanced Tracking Protection.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  • Any browser: use a private or incognito window, which discards storage when you close it.

Blocking essential cookies at browser level may make the consent banner reappear on every page, because we will have nowhere to record your decision. Blocking cookies here will not affect your access to any of the guide content.

5. Legal basis and your rights

Essential storage is used on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure website. Analytics and functional storage is used on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time as described above. How we handle any personal data derived from cookies, including retention and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the GDPR and the CCPA where they apply to you, is set out in our privacy policy.

6. Questions

If something in this policy is unclear, or if you believe storage is being set that is not described here, write to [email protected] or to our Grievance Officer at [email protected]. We will investigate and update this page where needed.
